Why battery holders (boxes)?

Because of primary batteries will leak, when they were stored (were forgotten) unused in the battery compartment of cameras for a long time, and cause oxidation on the polarity contacts and in the adjacent areas (mostly handgrips).

In order to protect the cameras from this issue, battery holders are used. So, a replacement holder will be used easily for the affected holder. Also, can be used for quick holder change-overs.

However, generally they are specially made for each camera, and its pretty difficult to find an original or used replacement for CHINON cameras nowadays.

Commercially available holders won’t fit and work perfectly despite they look like the same. Wiring and dimensions are different. So, modification is required.

The best candidates are the BH-343-1B from reliable makers (such as in Taiwan), and the white colored thin plastic poor quality ones (to be able to fit) for silent cameras (4 AA batteries).

How to wire?

Note: Some models of gaf, PORST and REVUE silent cameras share the same since they were made by CHINON INDUSTRIES.
